I was asked to create a glass material this week in UDK. To achieve this I had to research on the process to create glass material. After several hours of research I found the best source of information was to study some of the Unreal materials already in Udk and go out and create something that fit the Dystopian world my client created. I used a picture that I had taken and made a reflection map off of it. Using this reflection map I could fake the appearance of a glassy material. I then painted textures Diffuse textures and Opacity textures to create a dirty effect. I also created light tileable dirt that could be used to add glass variety.
